Finding Your Why

finding your why blog

When you think of the thing that has kept you standing for so long, what comes to mind? It might be hope or your positive mindset that something great will happen eventually. Think about how many times you give yourself credit for just making it through the day. Although things might not have gone as planned or you feel like you are just going through the motions, you made it!

Now, I want to go a bit deeper… Why haven’t you quit your job, stopped pursuing your dreams, dropped out, ended that relationship etc.? You can’t say your answer to the first question! Yes, determination and hope are great reasons to not give up and you can achieve a short term goal or two.

Hoping and wishing aren’t sustainable if there is no clear why. Why do you want the things you want? It’s like cause and effect, there was an occurrence and as a result something happened. Finding your why is the cause and the accomplishment of your goal is the effect. Once you have a solidified reason for what you want to achieve it makes it so much easier to attain it.

I’m reading High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard and he states ‘find someone or something worth fighting for. If you can stroke the necessity to be your best in order to help others, you’ll hit high performance faster and stay there longer.’ He’s been in the game for a long time so if you don’t take my word, take it from him! Greatness starts when you understand your why. Thanks for reading!
