Dreams, goals, business ideas, career aspirations and desires. They are all worth fighting for. Fight the urge to scroll, spend more money than you should, binge watch your favorite show or even sleep if it means working towards making your dream a reality. I am reading Nehemiah and I can’t help but be convicted by the dedication to prayer, perseverance and faith he showed. Nehemiah was a leader,a governor in charge and of rebuilding the city of Jerusalem’s walls. Here’s the kicker, he only had 52 days to complete the project. He faced SO much opposition, his enemies tried to tear down his wall multiple times. Discouragement, fear and doubt crept into the minds of those working on rebuilding this wall. But Nehemiah was a man of consistent prayer and faith. He told his people:
“Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”
Nehemiah 4:14 NIV
Whew! Instantly I got chills from reading that. Forget the pain, disgrace, frustration, insecurity and remember how awesome your God is. He makes the paths successful for those who keep him at the forefront. He will fight for you and equip you with everything you need to win. When Nehemiah told his team to fight for their families I was triggered to fight for mine. Believe it or not but the things we are working towards not only benefit us but also our families and communities. Fight because your dream or ambition is greater than you, it will impact so many. You may feel the pressure of needing to be great like now but remember it requires hard work and having a fighting mentality to succeed. We dream up and imagine bossing up or having this huge influence without putting in the prayer and dedication it takes to manifest those things. For me, I can be so confident one minute and completely doubt my abilities the next.
Yes, you are going to hit a few road block and want to quit. You are going to get distracted and have to refocus l, but keep praying and keep fighting.
