Every Good Thing

‘Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

James 1:17 New International Version (NIV)

We love gratitude nowadays and I think that’s awesome! Gratitude journals are everywhere. Studies show that reflecting and remembering all the good things in our lives is proven to bring more happiness and joy. But Sometimes we are thankful and grateful but forget to thank the Provider of those good thing- Our Heavenly Father. Every Good thing that happens to us is from God. He gives us each day and provides for our every need. I was listening to ‘Every Good Thing’ by For All Seasons (check it out when you can!)

I began to feel the need to praise God as I listened to the lyrics. I began to think about my current situation and how despite frustration, he has provided SO many great things: Family, friends, support, etc.… things that are easily overlooked in moments of disappointment. The opening of the song starts with ‘Looking at my life-every low and every high, let me count the ways you’ve shown up in perfect time.’

Take that in… Can you think of a time where He came through for you just in the nick of time?

Any need we have, he provides! It may be just enough to get us by but He never allows us to go without what we need. We can get through a tough day knowing that He provides the strength to withstand tomorrow. We know that whatever we face in this life is preparing us for greater, don’t look past the season you are in. If you are going through a tough time or can’t see the good in your situation, Look up, He’s got you!
